REGS 26 OCT OF
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 17th inst., together with Despatches and other papers submitted to His Excellency Sir John Pope Hennessy.
In reply to your enquiry, I beg to state that I think that the staff proposed in the Despatch of His Excellency Sir John Pope Hennessy of the 30th July 1881 will be expedient under the circumstances to ensure the Registrar's office working efficiently, especially if the additional Messenger in Bankruptcy is sanctioned.
At the same time, I think that the suggestions made by Sir John Smale in his Letter of Jan! 13 to 1880 suit the requirements of the staff of the Supreme Court in Hong Kong with respect to the distribution of work in the Registrar's office.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
